Murray, of White Lake, Mich., made birdie on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff to claim his first IJGT title at the Mizuno Eastern Mid-Season Championship.
Murray finished at 4-over 146 after consecutive 73s at TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz, Fla., then hit his approach on the first playoff hole to 1 foot for birdie.
Murray, No. 224 in the Golfweek/Titleist Junior Rankings, has signed a letter of intent with Coastal Carolina.
• India’s Fatehbir Dhaliwal shot a bogey-free 69 to win the FCWT Legends at Orange Lake Open. It was Dhaliwal third consecutive top-5 finish on the FCWT.
• Bruce Doucett Jr., of Apple Valley, Calif., shot 2-under 140 (71-69) to win the FCWT Tahquitz Creek Open by a shot. Doucett was playing his first FCWT event.
• New Zealand’s Danny Lee finished a shot short in his bid to win a third consecutive New Zealand Under-23 Championship. Lee was a quarterfinalist in the 2006 U.S. Junior and finished T-6 at this year’s AJGA FootJoy Boys Invitational. Lee is No. 6 in the Golfweek/Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings.
