RIVIERA MAYA, Mexico – Former amateur star Spencer Levin won his first Canadian Tour title Sunday, holing a 20-foot birdie putt on the final hole for a 7-under 65 and a one-stroke victory in the Iberostar Riviera Maya Open.
Levin, the 22-year-old former University of New Mexico player who tied 13th as an amateur in the 2004 U.S. Open at Shinnecock, had a 21-under 267 total on the Iberostar Playa Paraiso course. He earned $20,000.
“This feels just great,’’ Levin said. “I’ve been playing very well and to finally seal the deal is a wonderful feeling. It sure felt good to make that final putt.’’
Canadian Derek Gillespie (67) finished second.
