Cavanagh named Flagler women’s coach

After serving as the men’s assistant coach last spring, Santiago Cavanagh will take over as the women’s coach at Flagler College.

Cavanagh is currently an instructor at The First Tee of St. Johns County and has been the head professional at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine and an assistant pro at the Ridgeway Country Club in Memphis, Tenn.

“I am excited to be the women’s golf coach at Flagler,” said Cavanagh. “We have a great team returning in the fall and we look forward in having a great season.”

The Argentina native attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn., and was a two-time All-Gulf South Conference first-team selection (1999, 2002). He won seven tournaments and was ranked as high a No. 38 in NCAA Division II and 12th in the South Region.

Cavanagh graduated from Lincoln Memorial in 2002 with a degree in business administration.

The Flagler women’s program won its first tournament against a field comprised of NCAA Division II schools, the Panther Invitational.
