Hank Haney, who’s worked with Tiger Woods and other PGA Tour players, was named director of instruction June 28 at the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Haney replaces Gary Gilchrist who resigned to work with players on the PGA Tour and LPGA, including Suzann Pettersen who recently won her first major, the McDonald’s LPGA Championship. Haney will oversee all aspects of the academy’s golf instruction.
“I have devoted my entire career to teaching others and am thrilled to embark on this terrific opportunity with the IJGA,” said Haney. “The IJGA draws some of the top junior players from all over the world aspiring to compete at golf’s highest level. I am excited to teach these talented individuals not only the physical game of golf, but other aspects such as the mental preparation, strategy and overall career management that makes for the complete golfer.”
Haney has worked with more than 200 PGA and LPGA Tour professionals including Woods and Mark O’Meara. He has been recognized as one of the top 5 instructors in America.
