In a push to greater distribute its award-winning content, Golfweek has forged an alliance with FoxSports.com on MSN, one of the largest sports sites on the Web, with more than 14 million unique visitors per month.
The partnership enables FoxSports.com to bolster its coverage of golf by tapping into a broad menu of Golfweek content – including online video programming, articles, Golfweek’s Best Courses lists and player rankings. FoxSports.com will showcase Golfweek as its premier golf content provider.
“We look forward to powering the golf content on FoxSports.com and reaching its massive audience with our editorial and state-of-the-art online video technology,” said Terry Olson, Golfweek’s vice president/publisher. “This partnership not only will benefit our current readers and FoxSports.com users, it also will provide golf enthusiasts throughout the world greater access to the insightful and comprehensive coverage that is unique to Golfweek.”
As part of the content-sharing initiative, Fox Sports will air Golfweek’s online videos on FoxSports.com and provide direct links from its Web site to Golfweek.com. “The biggest golf gallery is about to be created now that FoxSports.com, the largest sports Web site, has joined in partnership with Golfweek, the largest weekly golf publication. It will be tough controlling the crowds,” said William Kupper Jr., president of Turnstile Publishing Co., the Orlando, Fla.-based media enterprise and parent company of Golfweek.
Founded in 1975, Golfweek magazine steadily has grown its audience of serious and avid golfers. According to MRI’s spring 2007 research, Golfweek has more than 1 million total readers weekly and more readers per copy (6.81) than any golf publication.
“We’re proud to bring Golfweek’s leading video and editorial content to our millions of monthly users,” said Kyle McDoniel, vice president of business development for Fox Sports Interactive. “Golfweek is one of the most trusted brands in the sport, and their presence on our site will create a much deeper and richer golf experience for sports fans on the Web.”
The alliance with FoxSports.com is the latest in a series of joint ventures Golfweek has pursued to broaden the reach of its multimedia content.
In November, Golfweek partnered with The Wall Street Journal to publish Golfweek’s Definitive Guide to The Golf Life. And recently, Golfweek began providing video and print content to Asian Golf Monthly, the sport’s leading publication in the Pacific Rim. Among Golfweek’s other strategic partners are NBC Sports, NCAA Golf, CSTV and TVN Entertainment.
