Rich Harvest Farms, Riviera up for ’12 NCAAs

Bids to host the 2012 NCAA Division I Men’s Championship aren’t due to the NCAA until Feb. 15, but Golfweek has learned that some impressive sites, including this year’s Solheim Cup course and a former major championship venue, will seek to host the national championship.

Northern Illinois is expected to submit a bid to host the championship at the ultra-exclusive Rich Harvest Farms, site of this year’s Solheim Cup. USC is expected to submit a bid for historic Riviera Country Club, annual site of the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open and a former U.S. Open venue.

Past NCAA regional sites Gold Mountain Golf Complex (University of Washington) and the University of Texas Golf Club are also expected to be in the running for the 2012 NCAAs.

The winning site will be announced in the summer.
