Burke to assume URI coaching duties in 2011

Gregg Burke was been named the successor to Rhode Island men’s head coach Tom Drennan. Burke will take over head coaching duties after Drennan’s retirement in May.

Burke serves as the deputy director of athletics at Rhode Island and he will serve as assistant coach during the 2010-11 season. Burke also announced that Dave Marcotte will serve as the team’s assistant once Burke assumes the head coaching role.

“I am tremendously excited to be leading a program that has had so much success under Tom Drennan,” Burke said. “I’m especially excited to be able to name Dave Marcotte as my assistant. In a state where we have so many tremendous PGA professionals, to have the person I believe to be one of the very best join the program, is exactly what we need.”
