Smooth sailing: Oklahoma State’s players could probably arrive at Colorado National Golf Club with four clubs apiece Saturday and still advance to the NCAA Championship at their home course. The Cowboys are up 16 shots with one round remaining in the NCAA South Central Regional; they’re 20 shots ahead of fifth place. Two Cowboys – Sean Einhaus and Kevin Tway – are tied for the lead at 7-under 137. Tway, a senior, is seeking the third regional victory of his career. Einhaus, a sophomore, is seeking his first victory. Oklahoma State, the No. 1 team in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, has won seven times in 11 starts this season.

Final spots: Oklahoma State may have a commanding lead, but the race for the final spots out of Colorado National will be a tight one. Five teams that are separated by two shots will compete for the final three spots. Georgia moved into third place with a 12-under 276 Friday, one shot behind Oklahoma State for the best round of the day and five shots better than any other team. T.J. Mitchell and Russell Henley, recent winner of a Nationwide Tour event, both shot 68. Mitchell is tied with Einhaus and Tway for the lead.

Short shots: First-round leader Zahkai Brown of Colorado State shot 82 Friday, 17 shots worse than his opening round. Colorado State fell to sixth with a 1-over 289 after shooting 283 in the first round. … Auburn, coming off a seventh-place finish at the SEC Championship, is in second place. Blayne Barber shot 67 Friday to lead the Tigers.
