Wyndham extends Tour sponsorship through ‘16

Wyndham Worldwide announced it has extended its title sponsorship of the Wyndham Championship through 2016.

The four-year deal ensures the hospitality company based in Parsippany, N.J., will continue to host the final tournament of the PGA Tour’s regular season. The event provides the last chance for players to improve their seeding for the Tour’s Playoffs for the FedExCup.

This year’s Wyndham Championship is scheduled for Aug. 15-21 at Sedgefield Country Club, a Donald Ross design in Greensboro, N.C.

In the five years since Wyndham partnered with the tournament, the Wyndham Championship has generated more than a $1 million annual impact for charities.

Among the organizations it has aided: Wishes By Wyndham, Victory Junction, The First Tee of the Triad, the Kevin Harvick Foundation, the American Junior Golf Association Ace Grant, the Crosby Scholars Community Partnership, Multiple Sclerosis of Central North Carolina and the Piedmont Triad Partnership, the entity that promotes central North Carolina regionalism.
