North Florida senior Joey Petronio’s final-round 2-under 70 wasn’t enough to earn the individual title Tuesday at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate, but it did help the Ospreys win the team title by six shots.

Petronio entered the final round at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla., tied with Kentucky’s Tyler McDaniel for the individual lead. Petronio finished in solo fourth at 9-under 207 while McDaniel posted 68 to share medalist honors with Tennessee’s Jack Smith at 11-under 205. The Volunteers finished second to North Florida.

M.J. Maguire (T-5) and Dillon Woods (T-7) also placed in the top 10 for North Florida, which finished 54 holes at 24-under 840. The Ospreys, ranked No. 32 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, now have two victories this fall – they also won at Shoal Creek in September. North Florida finish fifth at the prestigious Tavistock Collegiate Invitational last week.

Michigan State (853) was third, Stephen F. Austin State (854) was fourth and tournament host McNeese State (857) was fifth.

TCU’s Julien Brun tied for 41st as the Horned Frogs, the highest-ranked team in the field at No. 31, tied for seventh as a team.
