TCU rallies past Texas Tech to win Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

TCU entered Sunday’s final round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate trailing leader Texas Tech by nine shots. But a closing 5-under 283, led by 3-under 69s from Paul Barjon and Chelso Barrett, pushed the Horned Frogs past the Red Raiders and gave them a one-shot victory at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.

Ranked 38th by Golfweek, TCU finished at 9-under 855. Barjon finished second at 7-under 209, four shots back of Texas Tech’s Clement Sordet, who carded rounds of 69-65-71. Barrett (T-5) and Julien Brun (T-10) also notched top 10s for the Horned Frogs.

Hannes Ronneblad and Esteban Restrepo tied for 10th to give the Red Raiders, ranked 16th by Golfweek, three players in the top 10.

Denver used a final-round, 12-under 276 to finish third at 7 under while Kansas State (9 over) and Oregon (14 over) rounded out the top five teams. The Ducks, ranked 17th, have now finished T-3, 13th and fifth since going undefeated in the fall.
