Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts launched its “A meeting with Phil” ad campaign.

The four, 30-second TV spots debuted April 17 and feature unscripted meetings among Phil Mickelson, golf commentator David Feherty and golf enthusiasts.

The spots feature fans who have advice for Mickelson, spectators who have been hit by one of Mickelson’s golf balls, and people who happen to look like the world’s second-ranked golfer. Participants for the campaign, which is slated to run from April through September, were chosen through an online contest held at ameetingwithphil.com. The Web site required fans to submit an essay or video explaining why they should be in the commercials. Open casting calls in select cities also were held.

The ads are part of Crowne Plaza’s support of its sponsorship of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, May 22-25 in Ft. Worth, Texas.

The ads were created by branding and communications agency Fallon Minneapolis.
