American Express launches golf site

American Express has launched an enhanced Web site devoted to golf that will include content from Jim Furyk, Morgan Pressel and Davis Love III.

Cardmembers can log on to the Members Clubhouse at www.americanexpress.com/golf. In addition to providing playing tips and personal advice from these players, the site will feature golf offers and cardmember benefits, including the opportunity to purchase tickets to the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y., as well as the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn.

The company has extended its current deal with Love by three years, while Furyk and Pressel signed on for two-year and one-year deals, respectively. Financial erms were unavailable. The agreements do not call for any of the players to wear the American Express logo. The trio will also appear in print and online advertising this summer.

American Express, which also has significant partnerships with the USGA and the PGA of America, has started a new program with the PGA to encourage new players to take up the game. The program allows cardmembers who use their American Express cards to purchase instruction from PGA professionals to bring along a guest at no additional cost.
