Programming exec leaves Golf Channel
By SCOTT HAMILTON
Senior Writer

Don McGuire has left his post as senior vice president of programming, production and operations at the Golf Channel, less than two years after the cable network hired him to help oversee the launch of its PGA Tour broadcasts.

Golf Channel spokesman Dan Higgins declined to give specifics of McGuire’s exit other than to say “there has been a separation.” He did say McGuire opted to step down immediately rather than work through a transitional period. McGuire’s departure was announced to Golf Channel staff on Nov. 28.

“Don played an important role during our first partnership year with the PGA Tour and we are grateful for his contributions,” Higgins said. “Any details pertaining to his employment situation at the Golf Channel are personnel matters and regarded as private.”

Higgins said the company has already begun searching for a replacement, though no timetable for filling the position has been established.

No one will fill in for McGuire on an interim basis. Higgins said Tony Tortorici, Golf Channel’s vice president of production, will handle production duties involving tournaments, while Keith Allo, vice president of original program development, will oversee programming duties.
