GOLFWEEK STAFFNorth Texas Director of Athletics Rick Villarreal has named Brad Stracke, a former assistant coach at the University of Florida, as the new men’s golf head coach. Stracke has spent the last three years as an assistant coach at Florida and he was the head coach at Indian Hills Community College for nine seasons from 1996-05, winning a NJCAA National Championship.
“We are extremely excited to have someone with the experience and passion for coaching golf that Brad Stracke has,” Villarreal said.
Stracke replaces Jim Bob Jackson, who resigned in October after serving as men's golf coach for seven years.
At Florida, Stracke helped guide the Gators to the NCAA Championship three consecutive seasons, culminating with a second-place finish in 2006. The Gators won the West Regional Championship with a tournament-record 37-under-par score. Florida finished ninth at the NCAA Championship in 2007 and 11th in 2008.
While at Florida, Stracke coached six All-Americans, eight SEC All-Conference players, and one Walker Cup player.
Stracke coached Indian Hills to a national championship in 2000 and had six consecutive seasons of finishing either first, second, or third at the national championship.
Stracke earned an Associate of Arts degree in Arts and Science at IHCC in 1990. He also earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1993, where he played for the Blazers.
