Kaneko, Park all square at Girls' Jr.

Assistant EditorLAKEWOOD, Wash. – Ayaka Kaneko and Kristen Park are known as steady players, but mistakes marred the morning 18 of their final at the U.S. Girls’ Junior.
Both players held 2-up leads in the morning, but the match was all square after 18 holes at Tacoma Country & Golf Club.
Kaneko (pictured, left) won the first two holes with pars, but Park only had to par Nos. 3 and 4 to return to all square. The players swapped birdies at Nos. 6 and 7, then Park went 1 up with a par at No. 8.
Park increased her lead to 2 up with a 5-foot birdie putt at No. 10, but lost both No. 11 with a bogey and the par-3 15th when she hit it into the water for the second consecutive round.
Both players missed makeable birdie putts at the par-5 16th, and Park had to make a 6-foot bogey putt just to halve No. 17. Park squared the match by making another 5-foot birdie putt on No. 18, though.
