UCLA, Blumenherst win big at Rudolph
GOLFWEEK STAFF

Tiffany Joh (pictured) and two freshmen led UCLA to a 14-shot victory Sunday at the season-opening Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship.

The Bruins closed with a 1-under 287 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, their third consecutive sub-par round, to post a 13-under 851 total. Arizona State shot a final-round 292 to finish at 1-over 865. Duke, led by medalist Amanda Blumenherst, finished third at 2 over par. The Blue Devils played without All-American Jennie Lee.

The top two players from last year’s Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings finished in identical positions on the leaderboard. Blumenherst shot three rounds in the 60s to finish at 13-under 203, four shots ahead of Arizona State’s Anna Nordqvist. Blumenherst’s 13-under-par performance set the school 54-hole record for relation to par. It was her eighth career victory, second in school history.

UCLA junior Tiffany Joh finished at 6-under 210 – including a first-round 65 – to finish T-3.  Freshman Glory Yang (72) shot three rounds of par or better to finish seventh at 3 under par.  Fellow freshman Maria Jose Uribe, the U.S. Women’s Amateur champion, finished T-10 at even-par 216, including a second-round 66. Sydnee Michaels finished T-15 and Ryann O’Toole finished T-48 after a final-round 71.

Auburn freshman Cydney Clanton shot a final-round 68 to finish T-3 with Joh and Oklahoma State’s Pernilla Lindberg.

Final scores with relation to par from the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship, played Sept. 14-16 at the par-72, 6,305-yard Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn. (Note: y-played as individual):
