Rocco Mediate, who went toe-to-toe with Tiger Woods in a 19-hole Monday playoff at last month’s U.S. Open at Torrey Pines, has accepted an invitation to play in the 25th annual LG Skins Game Thanksgiving weekend in Indian Wells, Calif.
Mediate, 45, joins two-time defending LG Skins champion Stephen Ames and three-time major champion Phil Mickelson in committing to the $1 million event, which will be played Nov. 29-30 at Indian Wells Golf Resort and broadcast by ABC.
The fourth spot has yet to be announced; sources tell
Golfweek that Anthony Kim, a two-time PGA Tour winner this season, will be extended the invitation.
Mediate, who tied for 19th at the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale on Sunday and moved to 11th on the U.S. Ryder Cup points list, was traveling from England to Los Angeles on July 21 and could not be reached for comment. His agent, Tom Elliott, confirmed the news.
Last year’s Skins Game field consisted of Ames, Fred Couples, Zach Johnson and Brett Wetterich.
