Who’s leading: Alex Aragon of San Diego had eight birdies and a bogey to shoot 65 at Oak Valley Golf Club and take a one-shot lead over Craig Kanada.

Inside the cut line: Richard Lee is T-3 after shooting 67; Lee was runner-up in the 2006 U.S. Junior and qualified for that year’s U.S. Open before turning pro.

Mark Hensby, winner of the 2004 John Deere Classic, is T-5 at 68. Bob Sowards, who finished 188th on the 2008 PGA Tour money list, is another shot back.

James Oh, the 1998 U.S. Junior champ, is T-19 at 2 under par, as is Phil Tataurangi, who won the PGA Tour’s Las Vegas tournament in 2002.

Outside the cut line: Y.E. Yang, winner of the 2007 HSBC Champions, shot 71 and is T-33.

Nick Flanagan, the 2003 U.S. Amateur champion, is in last after a 79; Flanagan finished 169th on the 2008 PGA Tour money list after earning a battlefield promotion from the Nationwide Tour in 2007.

LANTANA, TEXAS
Who’s leading:
Casey Devoll and Andrew Bonhomme each shot 5-under 67s to take a one-shot lead over five players at Lantana Golf Club.

In 22 starts on the 2008 Nationwide Tour, Bonhomme missed 19 cuts and earned just $12,398. His scoring average for the year was 72.69, ranked 133rd on the tour.

Inside the cut line:
Former Washington standout Alex Prugh shot a 4-under 68 and is in a five-way tie for second place.

In his first full year on the Nationwide Tour in 2007, Prugh had three top-10 finishes and finished 46th on the money list with $144,790.

Jimmy Walker, a three-time winner on the Nationwide Tour, is tied with Prugh for second.

Notah Begay III (pictured), a college teammate of Tiger Woods and four-time winner on the PGA Tour, shot a 1-under 71 and is T-17.

Outside the cut line:
Paul Stankowski, the only player to ever win a Nationwide Tour and PGA Tour event back-to-back, shot an even-par 72 to finish the day T-24.

Stankowski won the 1996 Nike Louisiana Open, was promoted to the PGA Tour, and then won the 1996 BellSouth Classic.

Kent Jones
is tied with Stankowski. Jones finished 177th on the Tour money list in 2008 with $304,432.

Former Washington standout Zach Bixler shot a 3-over 75 and is T-55 after the first round.

Bixler is one of six players in NCAA history to shoot a 60. He shot an 11-under 60 as a senior at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.
