SUNDAY (Final)
• Balicki: Young gun: Lee wins U.S. Amateur: Danny Lee won the U.S. Amateur Sunday to supplant Tiger Woods as the youngest champion in tournament history. Lee was 11 under for 32 holes in the final to beat Drew Kittleson, 5 and 4.
SATURDAY (Semifinals)
• Lee, Kittleson to meet in U.S. Am final: Danny Lee, the world’s top-ranked amateur, has a chance to replace Tiger Woods as the youngest player to ever win the U.S. Amateur. Standing in his way will be Florida State sophomore Drew Kittleson. They will face off in Sunday’s 36-hole final.

• Balicki: Semifinals set at U.S. Amateur: The U.S. Amateur has become a dogfight. The world’s top amateur, Danny Lee, will face Georgia’s Patrick Reed while Florida St. sophomore Drew Kittleson plays another Bulldog, Adam Mitchell, in the semifinals.

• Fathauer endures long day at U.S. Am: Derek Fathauer had to work overtime twice just to get back into the quarterfinals. He sank a 20-foot birdie putt on the fourth extra hole to advance to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.

WEDNESDAY (Round of 64)
• Soderstrom: Walk this Tway at U.S. Am: Two former U.S. Junior champions met in the first round of the U.S. Amateur. Philip Francis may have made a run at a PGA Tour title earlier this summer, but he was sent packing by Kevin Tway’s birdie on No. 18.

TUESDAY (Round 2)• Fillmore medals in stroke play at U.S. Am: Robbie Fillmore was away from golf for two years and didn’t touch a club. He took up the game again in 2006. On Tuesday, Fillmore was medalist after two rounds of stroke-play qualifying with a 5-under 65. If only we could be so lucky.

Soderstrom: Putnam shows poker face at Pinehurst: Andrew Putnam is the essence of laid-back, but his game is taking charge at the U.S. Amateur. Putnam tied for fifth in stroke-play qualifying and has a dangerous mindset heading into the week. “I love match play,” the Pepperdine sophomore says.

• Lee continues hot streak at U.S. Amateur: Danny Lee, the No. 1 amateur in the world, shot 71 in the first round of stroke play at Pinehurst, just one day after finishing T-20 at the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship.
